Dr. Valverde is a graduate of the Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala. He completed his psychiatric residency at the University of Connecticut, a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Brown University, and a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. He is Board Certified in General Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, and Psychosomatic Medicine.
Dr. Valverde is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Columbia. He provides direct clinical supervision to rotating Third Year medical students. In addition to his outpatient practice at Marshall I. Pickens Hospital, Dr. Valverde is the Director of Professional Services at Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital in Anderson, SC.
His areas of interest include the interface between psychiatry and internal medicine, surgery, and obstetrics, as well as mental health issues in the elderly, including dementia and depression.
